Error code 0x0000007E is the value of bugcheck SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (which you also see on the blue screen). Error 0x0000007E means that there is no exception handler to catch an exception in a system thread you have. System threads are created when PsCreateSystemThread function is called. The four parameters in parenthesis vary. They signify the following:
- The exception code that was not handled
- The address where the exception occurred
- The address of the exception record
- The address of the context record
What causes error code 0x0000007E
0x0000007E is a very common bugcheck. Quite often error code 0x0000007E results from a faulty driver that conflicts with the system kernel. As a rule, the function or driver that caused the problem is pointed to by the exception address (see above). Remember to take note of this address as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address. However,the name of the problem driver may be indicated in the error message. If that’s the case try to disable it or contact hardware manufacturer for updates.
